The Menemsha Inn
is one of the quintessential Martha's Vineyard hotels. Our lodging is nestled on 14 acres of flowering gardens and green fields. Moss-covered stone walls roll westward towards a sweeping vista of the waters of Menemsha Bight where on a clear day, there is a postcard perfect view of the Elizabeth Islands off in the distance. Luxurious yet laid-back, the Inn is just short stroll down a winding path to the famous Menemsha Beach and Dutcher Dock, Menemsha's 300 year old commercial fishing wharf.
On a clear evening, the pinks and purples of our sunset saturate the skies giving way to a blanket of stars that will take your breath away. The sweet smell of ocean air and the gentle toll of the Menemsha bell buoy lull our guests into a restful night's sleep. In 1923, Edwin Thompson hitched up the oxen team and moved his farmhouse, Mainstay, from Middle Road onto fourteen acres of Menemsha sheep pasture with the most glorious water views he could find. The Menemsha Inn was open for business. Since then, the Inn has catered to the world traveler and world weary alike, all of whom have reaped its restorative magic.
Menemsha Inn is a unique spot, where visitors who return every year mingle with those who never leave, all sharing the casual atmosphere of up-island life. And the Menemsha Inn resides at the center of it all.
The Inn is an oasis of indulgent relaxation, providing as pure and unadulterated a Martha’s Vineyard experience as you’ll find.
Featured in The Best Places to Stay in New England and Travel & Leisure Magazine, Menemsha Inn was named the Fodor's top pick of Chilmark Inns and voted the Best Cottage Colony on Martha's Vineyard by the readers of Cape Cod Life magazine.
