Menemsha Inn - Accommodations

The Menemsha Inn offers a variety of private accommodations in 17 shingled buildings and cottages, spread across 14 acres. They include the Carriage House, Tea House, Mainstay, Seascape Cottages, Ruth's House, and Shell House. All include private baths and decks, and passes to area beaches. Guests are invited to join us in our breakfast room and sundeck overlooking Vineyard Sound for our gourmet complimentary continental breakfast with fresh baked muffins, fruit, cereals, bagels, juice, coffee and tea.

Our spacious Carriage House contains six luxury ocean view suites, each featuring a bedroom area with a King-size bed, sitting area with a sofa sleeper, coffee table and comfortable side chairs. Each fully carpeted suite has its own private bath, sun deck, mini refrigerator, flat screen TV with a DVD player and A/C. All are decorated in seacoast blues with vineyard cottage style furniture.

The main floor of the Carriage House is the Eisenstaedt Room, a photo gallery honoring legendary Life photographer Alfred Eisenstaedt, who was the Inn's guest annually for 53 years. This large great room features a native stone fireplace, a library of books, puzzles and games to enjoy in front of a cozy fire.

The Tea House building contains six Ocean Vista and three Garden View guest rooms, all with sun decks outfitted with cushioned chairs & foot rests. Each room has a vineyard summer feel, decorated in island blues, neutral toned carpeting throughout and cottage-style furnishings. All have a private baths, A/C and spectacular views of either the waters of Vineyard Sound or our beautiful English-style gardens.

The Tea House Breakfast Room, located at the end of the building, offers a panoramic view of the entire complex and surrounding seascapes. There is seating available both indoors where guests will enjoy our collection of historic photographs and artifacts illuminating one hundred fifty years of Vineyard seafaring life, or outdoors on the large sun deck taking full advantage of the cool sea breezes. Each morning, a gourmet continental breakfast, along with daily copies of the New York Times and Boston Globe are offered complimentary to all in-house guests.

The Mainstay Suite is located directly above the Inn’s reception area. This two-bedroom suite features a Master Bedroom with an oversized Vineyard Cottage style King-size bed, matching dresser & end tables, full bath and private balcony with spectacular ocean views. A separated Guest Bedroom is furnished with two Twin-size beds and an adjoining full bath. The living room is decorated with nautical striped walls and sea mist colored cottage furniture. Sea grass lamps give this suite a true vineyard summer feel. The Mainstay suite has a full kitchen, access to an outdoor gas grill, and dining room table set for six. This suite is the perfect retreat for a wedding couple, company president, or family of four.

Each of our Seascape Cottages has a private bedroom with a King-size bed, living room with a sofa sleeper and cozy fire place, fully equipped kitchen with small dining room table, and full private bath. Each cottage has both a private deck with Adirondack chairs and a screened in porch with a picnic table perfect for enjoying our famous sunsets. The cottages provide our guests with a substantial home base from which to explore our island. Additional amenities include cable television, touch-tone telephones, iron and ironing board, hair dryer, outside showers, BBQ grills, A/C, heat, daily maid service, use of all the inns facilities, and complimentary wood for your fireplace. Ruth was the daughter of the original innkeeper, Dewolf Thompson. Her classic three bedroom Vineyard home offers spectacular sunset views over Vineyard Sound. Ruth's house has one king bedroom with a half bath, one queen bedroom with ocean views and a third bedroom with a twin size trundle bed. All three bedrooms are decorated with crisp white linens, island blue tones and navy accent pillows. The media room has a large “L” shaped sofa that can pull out and sleep an additional two people. This room includes a large flat screen TV, DVD player, card table, half bathroom and washer/dryer unit. There are also French doors that open up to an outdoor deck that overlooks our equestrian field. Ruth’s house has a fully equipped kitchen and cozy dining room table that seats eight. The living room has a small sofa and two upholstered chairs that are perfect to cuddle up in to read a book next to the fire place. The living room has large glass windows and French doors that lead out to the deck with teak furniture and sunset views. Additional amenities includes daily housekeeping, complimentary breakfast, parking pass for Lucy Vincent beach and use of all the inns facilities, A/C. heat, phone, outside shower, BBQ grill, and complimentary wood for your fireplace.

Shell House is nestled in the woods, adjacent to our tennis court. It has three quaint bedrooms. Downstairs there is a King-size bed with a large cottage style headboard and matching dresser and end tables, a large private bathroom with whirlpool, and walk-in closets completes this master suite. Upstairs there is a Queen-sized bedroom decorated in light wood tones and a second bedroom that has two Twin-sized beds with white washed cottage style headboards. Both upstairs bedrooms share a sunny full bathroom and hallway reading nook. The Shell House has a fully equipped kitchen with a farm style table that seats eight. The living room area has a comfortable sofa and upholstered chairs that are nestled around a very unique shell and sea glass decorated fire place. The living room has large glass windows and French doors that lead out to a large deck fully furnished for sunning or outdoor dining. Extras include daily housekeeping, complimentary breakfast, cable television with VCR/DVD player, phone, hair dryer, iron and ironing board, outside shower, BBQ grill, heat, use of all the inns facilities and complimentary wood for your fireplace.
