Our guests enjoy passes and summer shuttle bus service to Chilmark's famous private ocean beach, Lucy Vincent, and Squibnocket. A tennis court, ping pong and workout rooms are also available.

Scenic country roads and the Vineyard's extensive network of bike paths make for enjoyable running and biking, and thousands of acres of conservation land are close by for hiking and bird watching. Horseback riding, and two excellent public golf courses are also nearby. Menemsha Pond is a popular destination for kayakers, and we can help arrange for kayaks or bikes to be here for your use. For those seeking a relaxed pace, there is productive antique hunting close by and a myriad of shops, galleries and such traditional happenings as the Chilmark Flea Market and West Tisbury Farmers Market.

Menemsha is a fishing paradise, known around the world for its strong tides and clear water teeming with blues, bonito and especially monster striped bass. Many world record fish have been caught off the Menemsha jetty and years of conservation are paying off in stunning numbers of heavy fish landed on our beaches.

Menemsha beach, just a short stroll away, is smack in the middle of the legendary crescent between Dogfish Bar and the Brickyard. For many of our surfcasting and saltwater flyfishing guests there is no other place on earth to be casting on an October night. They know that here their next cast may well produce that mythical fifty pounder.

The 300 year old fishing port is home to a charter fleet captained by experienced and colorful local guides who will put you over big fish on full or half day charters (such as North Shore Charters, www.bassnblue.com). We are in regular touch with the fleet and will be happy to help arrange a trip for you. Shore guides are also available to teach you saltwater flyfishing. Many guests return each autumn to compete in the famous Martha's Vineyard Striped Bass & Bluefish Derby, now in it's 58th year. The Menemsha Inn is proud sponsor of the conservation and scholorship program of the derby and we have our own special for our derby contenders. Win a daily pin and that night's stay is on us.
