The Inn’s Story
In 1923, Martha’s Vineyard sheep farmer DeWolf Thompson had a simple, brilliant idea: people might pay to spend the night at his farmhouse to experience the spectacular sunset into Vineyard Sound. He was right. Today, his original sheep farm is now a treasured Menemsha destination.
It’s this simple magic that keeps our guests returning year after year, with many saying, “same time next year.” They cherish the short walk to Menemsha Beach, passes to Lucy Vincent, and time with family and friends, all culminating in another unforgettable sunset.
